Their website isn't very specific about upgrade pricing for additional domain names, transfers, dedicated IP addresses or SSL secure certificates. One bonus is they do daily backups at no added charge.

Pronet offers good uptime and all basic web creation and hosting functions. In terms of their servers, they offer a 99.9% up-time guarantee, automated backups, RAID protected storage space, fingerprint plus cardkey secure server access, 17 1500kw generators, climate controlled environment, a Halon fire suppression system, fully redundant power and more. So it sounds like they are doing a good job to keep their servers protected and running. Which is extremely important considering that when servers go down and do not have backup or backup power or what ever the missing element is, your site goes down, which could mean loss of income for you. We feel that Pronet, according to the information they report is doing a good job in this area. And the 99.9% up-time guarantee is an acceptable industry standard.

In terms of web creation, it supports popular software like FrontPage and common coding like Javscript, PHP types, and Perl5. And since Pronet hosts sites it also can load DreamWeaver created sites and more. It also supports Ruby on Rails, Python, Cronjobs and multimedia type files.

As mentioned it also includes the Fantastico Instant Software Package which includes many popular functionalities like blogs, forums, polls, shopping carts, list management, image galleries, customer support tools, content management tools, calendars, Wiki type tools and more. Pronet offers quite a few domain options. You can transfer your domain to their service for around $10, you get one free lifetime domain and the basic service includes the option of up to 100 addon domains and 100 parked domains. The Windows hosting package includes unlimited parked and subdomains.

Email support is also extensive; it supports WebMail, private email, POP3, SMTP and IMAP type email protocols. And they offer useful functions like forwarding, catch-alls, aliases, auto-responders and so on.

They also provide web statistics through Webalizer and AwStats. Webalizer is a common product included with webhosting packages. Webalizer is a free web server log file analysis program that offers standard features. However, we would recommend that you also use Google Analytics and a free service like StatCounter, which both do a very good job and help you have two sources of data.

Web hosting services are extremely complex and include numerous features and we can say that Pronet offers most everything you need to create and host your site. However, they did not include all the features we were looking for in comparison to other products, for example, they offered wiki-type functions but not MediaWiki or polls but not LimeSurvey. But all in all, they offer must functions you will need to host your site.

Pronet hosting services offer good web creation and hosting tools and protected, 99.9% uptime servers, and we liked the tools they offer and the helpful tutorials. But we would really like to see improved customer support like 24-hour phone or at least chat support.
